Equipment

  • A wide-mouth glass jar or a kit provides everything you need to start
  • A mesh lid or cheesecloth with a rubber band
  • Clean, filtered water

Materials

  • 2-4 Tablespoons Sprouting Seeds I like Crimson Clover and Broccoli Seeds

Instructions

  • Rinse the Seeds: Place the seeds in the jar and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Drain out the water completely.
  • Soak the Seeds: Fill the jar with water, covering the seeds by a few inches. Let them soak for 6-12 hours.
  • Drain & Rinse: Drain out the soaking water completely. Rinse the seeds with fresh water and drain again. Tilt the jar at an angle to allow excess water to drain.
  • Sprouting Process: Rinse and drain the seeds twice daily (morning and evening). Keep the jar in a cool, dimly lit area.
  • Harvest & Store: After 3-7 days, your sprouts will be ready. Give them a final rinse and drain well. Store in the fridge in a breathable container for up to a week.
  • Enjoy! Add your fresh sprouts to salads, sandwiches, wraps, or smoothies.

Notes

While sprouting is a fantastic way to enhance your nutrition, it’s important to follow proper safety measures to prevent contamination and ensure you’re using safe seeds.
